Hello, I’m Alicia Ireland, and you’re listening to WPpodcast, bringing the weekly news from the WordPress Community.

In this episode, you’ll find the information from November 11th to 17th, 2024.

After two extra release candidates, 4th and 5th, we now have WordPress 6.7, Rollins, named in honor of jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins.

The highlights of this version include the new Twenty Twenty-Five theme, the Zoom Out mode, Binding Blocks (blocks linked to fields), expanded typography management, better performance, PHP 8 compatibility, and several accessibility improvements, all contributed by 780 contributors, 230 of whom have participated for the first time.

After the release, and for about 24 hours, the project’s infrastructure was affected by a series of bugs and network congestion, which were progressively fixed.

With four weeks to go, a reminder that State of the Word 2024 will take place on December 16, this time in Tokyo, Japan, starting at 09:00 UTC, and it will be broadcast live on YouTube.
